Kenna, the MC is thick as a post. On nothing more than an announcement by her best friend that she is getting married, Kenna drops everything and travels halfway around the globe to see her. There she encounters a “tribe” of peculiar people who want to surf all day. Her idea to get her best friend back to England is to persuade the others to return to their families but she is as subtle as an ax. There is little suspense, it‘s just a stupid plot

bthegood this sounds like a book I might have bailed on - 😂 2y

I enjoyed this beach read. 🤣 Seriously, though, The Swell is a quick, easy read about some surfers who hide themselves in an isolated area - and members of their Tribe keep dying under suspicious circumstances. Definitely a psychological thriller. #Kindle #ebook #Libby

Reynolds‘ second thriller moves from the dangers of the ski slopes to the Australian surf! Worries about her best friend, Kenna travels to convince Mikki to return home with her. But Mikki has found a group of fellow surfers who take things to the extreme- even when it‘s clear that they are taking lethal risks. Fast-paced and with a sort of AND THEN THERE WERE NONE-vibe, this is an exciting read! Look what creature tried to read over my shoulder!

I loved Reynold's debut novel, 'Shiver,' so I couldn't wait to read her newest, US title 'The Swell.'
When Kenna learns her bff''s is engaged, she travels to a remote beach in AU where she's forced to confront her own fears in a cult-like surfer commune. This suspenseful thriller kept me on the edge of my seat as I raced through its pages. I loved the characters & plot, but the ending left me wanting more. ARC in exchange for an honest review.

johncadams That's a very evocative cover. 2y
