A Good Morning America Buzz PickA Library Reads Pick June Jones emerges from her shell to fight for her beloved local library, and through the efforts and support of an eclectic group of library patrons, she discovers life-changing friendships along the way. Lonely librarian June Jones has never left the sleepy English village where she grew up. Shy and reclusive, the thirty-year-old would rather spend her time buried in books than venture out into the world. But when her library is threatened with closure, June is forced to emerge from behind the shelves to save the heart of her community and the place that holds the dearest memories of her mother. Joining a band of eccentric yet dedicated locals in a campaign to keep the library, June opens herself up to other people for the first time since her mother died. It just so happens that her old school friend Alex Chen is back in town and willing to lend a helping hand. The kindhearted lawyer's feelings for her are obvious to everyone but June, who won't believe that anyone could ever care for her in that way. To save the place and the books that mean so much to her, June must finally make some changes to her life. For once, she's determined not to go down without a fight. And maybe, in fighting for her cherished library, June can save herself, too.

Comfort soup and comfort read. Well, I say comfort...looks like I'll need to limit the number of books I read about libraries/community services being threatened by corrupt local government and private industry for the sake of my blood pressure. 😤 Main character as doormat prior to character arc and miscommunication trope still makes me want to scream. I respect what it said about libraries and librarians.

This is the stereotypical keep misunderstanding what‘s obvious to the reader romance trope, which I normally don‘t like because it seems so unrealistic. I guess I‘m not good at suspending disbelief where romance is concerned. I especially don‘t like it when it just makes the girl look goofy which this did in a way. Yet I still kind of fell in love with the MC and her would be suitor, probably mostly because I loved the storyline. This is 👇🏻

megnews another save the closing library/bookstore/shop trope (do girls do this a lot in England?) but it really works. The community seems genuine instead of forced and there are some really sentimental parts. If you‘re looking for a light romance with a library, this will work for you too. 2y

Chugging right along with my Popsugar Challenge this year! Another six books completed. So far I have been picking out the books then finding a matching challenge, but soon I'm going to have to start picking out books for specific challenges.

“You can tell a lot about a person from the library books they borrow.”

Wonder what my librarians think of me? 🧐
