Value(s)
Value(s): Building a Better World for All | Mark Carney
8 posts | 2 read
A bold, urgent argument on the misplacement of value in financial markets and how we can and need to maximize value for the many, not few. As an economist and former banker, Mark Carney has spent his life in various financial roles, in both the public and private sector. VALUE(S) is a meditation on his experiences that examines the short-comings and challenges of the market in the past decade which he argues has led to rampant, public distrust and the need for radical change. Focusing on four major crises-the Global Financial Crisis, the Global Health Crisis, Climate Change and the 4th Industrial Revolution-- Carney proposes responses to each. His solutions are tangible action plans for leaders, companies and countries to transform the value of the market back into the value of humanity.

“Disturbingly precise” is exactly the right phrase for that context.

Back when 🇨🇦 was in the midst of an election a bunch of yahoo trolls me that if I would just read this book then I would KNOW ‘things‘ and UNDERSTAND MC and vote properly. Jokes on them because I understood the assignment! In a nutshell, to build a better world for all we need to value values. What are Canadian values? Kindness, generosity, peacekeeping, honesty, hard working, education, health care.

mcctrish Jokes on the yahoos, cuz I understood the assignment 4mo

Painting continues; I‘m priming built in shelves and cupboards, window trim, chair rail etc ….. and book #4. This book is because some internet troll during Canada‘s election told me I‘m a moron and I need to wake up and read MC‘s book. So I am and little does the troll know, Mark Carney had me with the fact he‘d written a book which is a lot more than I can say about Pee Pee

janeycanuck The last few months when PP didn‘t have a seat has been the most wonderfully mature months of government in years. I am not looking forward to the gimmicky catchphrases peppering the media again 4mo
mcctrish @janeycanuck I was hoping for a miracle in Alberta, I‘m not looking forward to the comeback of his catchphrases either 4mo
