I loved this book! There's always something happening, and the characters are flawed but learn from their experiences.

I really enjoyed this fantasy set in 1914 pre-war London. Lily is a young woman with the gift of seeing the future through visions. She has never been able to change the horrific outcomes from her gift, but she must try yet again to save a close friend from being the next victim of a “blood stealer” who is killing mediums. She discovers others like herself (charismatics) in The Refuge, a place for safety and understanding of their worlds. 🔻

robinb The villains here are truly evil and are preaching eugenics as they conduct medical experiments to further their beliefs. There‘s a lot going on in this 500-page adventure, including Lily‘s coming to terms with her gift, her estrangement from her father, her learning to trust, her feelings for Lord Strangford, etc. I enjoyed it all but do feel that it was a little too long and could have benefited from some tightening up. 🔻 2y
robinb This is the first in a series, and I‘m looking forward to reading more.
And that cover…simply STUNNING. 🧡#coverlove

I‘m not sure if I‘ve ever come across a Content Warning this extensive.

Maybe the author should have just pointed out the pages WITHOUT triggers…??! 😳😆

ravenlee 😳oh my, that‘s extensive. 2y
robinb @ravenlee I‘m a bit intimidated. 🤷🏻‍♀️😱 2y
