Stamped (for Kids): Racism, Antiracism, and You | Jason Reynolds, Ibram X Kendi
3 posts | 4 read | 2 to read
THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER This chapter book edition of the groundbreaking #1 bestseller by luminaries Ibram X. Kendi and Jason Reynolds is an essential introduction to the history of racism and antiracism in America RACE. Uh-oh. The R-word. But actually talking about race is one of the most important things to learn how to do. Adapted from the award-winning, bestselling Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You, this book takes readers on a journey from present to past and back again. Kids will discover where racist ideas came from, identify how they impact America today, and meet those who have fought racism with antiracism. Along the way, they'll learn how to identify and stamp out racist thoughts in their own lives. Ibram X. Kendi's research, Jason Reynolds's and Sonja Cherry-Paul's writing, and Rachelle Baker's art come together in this vital read, enhanced with a glossary, timeline, and more.

At just over 2 hours, I was able to listen to this in a day. I‘d already read the YA and thought I‘d check out the kid version too. This is an excellent intro on anti racism and the history of racism in America and would be a great choice for children and parents to read or listen to and discuss together.

I haven‘t read the original, but I know this takes an already a very conversational tone geared to YA readers & makes enough changes to the language to scale it down well for MG. You do loose ALLOT of the subtler/more erudite content, but you end up with a book on anti racism written in clear language, based in historical fact, & determined to carry a hopeful tone throughout that seems like the perfect intro to this topic for many young readers

LibrarianRyan What I love about this book is they put it out in 3 version. The original, Stamped, and Stamped (for Kids). That just shows how important books like this are! It's on my list to read as well. 2y

Stamped for younger readers. The author does a good job of taking the source material and presenting it to a younger audience. #antiracism
