Very Sincerely Yours | Kerry Winfrey

A charming and heartwarming new romantic comedy by the author of Waiting for Tom Hanks, Kerry Winfrey. Teddy Phillips never thought she'd still be spending every day surrounded by toys at almost thirty years old. But working at a vintage toy store is pretty much all she has going on in her life after being unceremoniously dumped by her longtime boyfriend. The one joy that she's kept is her not-so-guilty pleasure: Everett's Place, a local children's show hosted by Everett St. James, a man whom Teddy finds very soothing . . . and, okay, cute. Teddy finds the courage to write to him, feeling slightly like one of the children who write to him on his show. He always gives sound advice and seems like he has everything figured out--and he pretty much does: Everett has a great support system, wonderful friends, and his dream job. But there's still that persistent feeling in the back of his mind that something's missing. When a woman named Theodora starts writing to Everett, he is drawn to her honesty and vulnerability. They continue writing to each other, all the while living their lives without meeting. When their worlds collide, however, they must both let go of their fears and figure out what they truly want--and if the future they want includes each other.

I'm a bit of a sucker for Winfrey's books because she sets them in Ohio, and describes places around Columbus with warm affection. It's just so nice to see my lovely state being embraced instead of being the background from which the MC is fleeing! 😂 I had some minor issues with this one, like some inconsistencies with Everett's character, and the “message“ that everyone has a THING that is their PASSION and if you can find that ONE THING ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) everything else falls into place. I just... I think contentment is something you choose, not something that happens because of your circumstances. Following passions can be great, but it's also just not for everyone. Stepping out of your comfort zone is fine, but it's also exhausting and I don't think you actually do need to force yourself to do it every day. But... this is a fluffy romcom, and in that light, this one was a lot of fun. 1y

At first I almost DNF‘d this one, thinking it would be far too twee. I mean a manic pixie girl who works at a vintage toy store and a puppeteer ala Mr Rogers?
Yes it is precious and adorable, but I stuck with it and I enjoyed her journey of finding herself and love following a breakup from a total jerk. A fun easy fast read 4⭐️

It was a long, sightly annoying week for no particular reason, so finishing up a Kerry Winfrey book a just the balm I needed this afternoon. I love her imperfect characters, figuring out their messy lives and finding community together. And I'm ok with them making me feel slightly homesick.

Haven‘t read all day in a long time but ignored several less pleasant tasks to read this romance today. Teddy is a total pushover with her long-term BF until he breaks up w/ her. She sets out to figure out her life & finally meets a children‘s show host that she has long admired. “Hot Mister Rogers” and Teddy have some ups & downs, of course, but it all ends happily. A few fun side characters, esp Everett‘s little sis. 👇

Scochrane26 Think this is Winfrey‘s best written novel so far. My #doublespin for September. #bookspin @TheAromaofBooks 3y

I really enjoyed the authors interview on the First Draft so picked up this book. It‘s very sweet, just a nice light romance which is what we all need when life is so heavy! ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

3.5 rounded up. Modern epistolary mix that features a fed-up pushover turned fighter, determined for forge her own future is a refreshing change to the never ending tropes of so many books these days. This one is closed door romance.

I liked this one but didn't love it, unfortunately. Teddy was so helpless at the beginning which is the point, but was incredibly frustrating to read. If I hadn't already heard it got better after a bit I probably would've DNFed. Her relationship with Everett is cute though and I liked the You've Got Mail vibes they had going on. Out June 15 💌
