I really enjoyed this book by “The Holistic Psychologist”. A lot of these chapters resonated with me, and there are a lot of topics she discusses that are things I happen to be working through in therapy myself. I can see how it might not be for everyone, but I personally got a lot from it and even will probably revisit certain chapters again.

Useful exercises to help you process past events.

“Children are meant to be seen, not
heard.” ...This mindset was born
out of an understanding that the only needs children had were basic,
such as food and shelter. Resource scarcity was a reality for many
members of these generations, many of whom were locked in
survival mode. These adults often defined successful parenting as
the fulfillment of basic survival needs with little energy or attention
left for emotional needs...

Book club pick. I was unfamiliar with the author or her Instagram. There are some nice insights that may apply to many of us, but ultimately this is how one woman dealt with her trauma. LePera writes how self healing ultimately can only be done by the individual, but then builds upon idea that she is THE teacher and this is THE work that is to be done. This one size fits all is problematic and takes away from the helpful aspects of the book.

I know this doesnt seem very #ThinkPositiveBePositive at first glance, but I've found understanding myself through insights like this from of Dr. Nicole Lepera to be such a powerful force of altered, more positive thinking and being!

I really appreciated so much of this book and am thankful for much of the authors perspective. It is a little out of my typical read but I received much from it. I felt that chapters on consciousness, inner child, and ego were the most helpful personally. I would do well to reread them in the near future.

An interesting read about a more holistic outlook towards psychology and dealing with ways of overcoming self sabotage to live a better more fulfilling life. I didn't find it to be a mind-blowing or particularly life changing self help book for me, maybe I prefer my psychology to be more old school. In parts it felt like Nicole was spruiking herself and her approaches a bit too much for my liking. ⭐⭐

A lot of information here is more applicable to people in romantic relationships than me as an aro person. Hence the so-so.

This is a guide to healing yourself without therapy. It is a way to work through your childhood trauma and become more aware of how that affects your adult life. The part I found the most useful was mind-body healing. I was familiar with much of it, but I‘m always interested in new perspectives. Read both print & audio.

Cinfhen I don‘t read too many self help books, although the older I get the more I recognize I could probably benefit greatly from reading them 😜 3y
Megabooks @Cinfhen I didn‘t until recently, but I‘ve gotten some good advice on which might apply to me. This is the first one that hasn‘t been a great fit. 3y
