The Cabin | Jasinda Wilder

One year ago, I buried my husband. One year ago, I held his hand and said goodbye. Now I spend most of my days lost somewhere between trying to remember every smallest detail of our lives, and trying to forget it all. I fill my hours with work until Im too exhausted to remember him, to feel anything at all. One year, 365 daysand then one knock at my door changes everything. A letter from him, a last request, a secret will: My dearest Nadia, Trust me, my love. One last time, trust me. Sometimes the epilogue to one story is the beginning of another.

As a person who is married to my best friend and have been together for 17 years, I was completely gutted by the story of a husband who is ill and worries about leaving his wife behind. A heart-wrenching, beautifully written that shows the unsurmountable weight of grieve, the bone crushing loneliness and the spark of hope of the life you have left to live.

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks This sounds good! Is it an “ugly cry” ending? 😭😭 stacked!! 3y
BayouGirl85 It‘s an ugly cry throughout. 😳 It‘s hard to reel in your emotions. You feel so much. @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks (edited) 3y
