pickVery thorough, especially given its capsule-profile format, but author Clover Hope takes care to highlight each artist's major contributions to the genre. Lots to discover here, particularly if, like me, your rap listening is largely confined to the big names. Most of all I enjoyed the accounts from early in rap history, before the Internet became something of a real-time archive.
