0/5⭐ Not a single bit of practical advice. So quixotic it seems unhinged. Ridiculous claims like that walking makes people honest. Dangerous implications with quotes about morning pages being better than therapy and solving people's addictions. Constant discussion of God as the source of inspiration. A chapter that just sets readers up to think they're not proper creators when they inevitably can't listen to spirits/ghosts. #bookspinbingo

5feet.of.fury Whoa 😲 sounds like a strange one! 2y
eeclayton The Artist's Way was a life-changer for me, but then I tried a couple of other books by JC (not this one, though) and I felt that she only repeated the same ideas over and over again, and also that she'd got more and more new-agey. 2y
hissingpotatoes @eeclayton I still want to read The Artist's Way because of all the good things I've heard, but what you found in her other books applies to this one too. 2y

Finished this one tonight. Other than a bit of repetitiveness, it was a worthwhile read. I‘ve been doing some of the tasks for several years already, such as morning pages, as she reintroduces certain things from The Artist‘s Way. The topics on listening were new though, and as I‘ve been wanting to be a better listener, I feel I‘m benefiting from her advice. I‘ve already been attempting to make it all a habit, and I‘ll continue to work on it.

“Careful listening then leads to authenticity?”
“Exactly.”

Earlier today while my son enjoyed the kiddie pool, I enjoyed my books with some iced coffee. Definitely not the weather for hot coffee here in FL, it is HOT out there.

I loved The Artist's Way and have been doing morning pages everyday for several years now. So I definitely had to jump when I heard about this one 😁

Working through The Listening Path by Julia Cameron. Putting together my photo album today was a bit of an Artist Date - and good for morale to see all the blessings amidst an overwhelmingly awful year.
