I have not read the tagged book, but I have read other Porter books & would be interested in his take on one of my favorite artists. I have seen Bacon's paintings in person a few times & they are unforgettable. (Pictured: Painting 1946)
so-soOnce I finished this, I had no idea what I just read. Thank god it‘s under 100p. I think it‘s about a painter in the present and his unfinished painting/ ideas. But I could be something else entirely 🤷♀️.
Since I loved “Lanny”, I‘m a little sad about not getting this one.
so-soLike @BookishTrish said, I think this‘ll best be enjoyed by people who know Francis Bacon and his work. I gave this two stars but I‘m not panning this one (an exception I can only make for the best) because I truly believe Porter is a genius and that might shine through this book for other readers in ways I haven‘t been able to grasp. I was confused the whole time about what I was reading but Max, I‘ll read anything you put out ❤️
so-soA frantic, fragmented imagining of Francis Bacon‘s last days. This book is best enjoyed by people who - unlike me - are more knowledgeable about Bacon‘s life and work.
