⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Mix together a compelling mystery, a detective of extraordinary skill, vivid descriptions and unique characters and you have a real dilemma: when you turn the last page, do you celebrate the conclusion of a really fine mystery novel or does the finality of the novel wound you?

This is what I'm cataloging this week. We got to the library this morning to find no heat or water working, so I'm huddled in my office by my space heater. Thankfully they just got both working again, so my office is slowly warming up.

It snowed here today. Massive amounts and still falling. Perfect night for warm gingerbread and a foggy Victorian detective story.

ValerieAndBooks Yum. That looks good. Perfect weather for staying inside and reading! 3y

Actually reading an #arc whilst it is still an arc and not five months after it‘s been published! Charles Lenox is always good fun.

Lenox visits the Gilded Age! Solid mystery and I very much enjoyed the differences between the Brits and the Americans that were pointed out. I do wish it had more of his family, but it was fun to take a trip across the pond.
