Pickpick

This book was bizarre! I think Monique was an unnecessary character. The story didn't gain anything from her perspective. The magic was interesting and I enjoyed those characters. If this had been two separate books, following the main story & the other Reynato and 'family' I think it would have made for two amazing novels. Overall, being off-kilter balanced the intense nature of the rest of the story and it still felt worth the read.

OhNoMersault I pulled this one from my book box last year and it's been sitting on my TBR pile. 7y
Robothugs @OhNoMersault I got this a week or so ago and decided to put it at the front of my TBR. I hope if you get to it you enjoy. 😊 7y

Benicio hasn't spoken to his father in five years. When his mother dies, he decides it's time. They arrange to meet in the Philippines, but when Benicio arrives his father is nowhere to be found. Benicio thinks he is being let down again. Little does he know his father's been kidnapped by a meth-addled cabdriver and his villainous accomplice, a rooster. #CurrentlyReading

Loved this book! The bulk of the story takes place in the Philippines. This also reminds me that I really really need to read his second book.

Mehso-so

Interesting combination of mystical yet realistic, and fun yet depressing.
