#OnThisDay in 1974, Russian author Solzhenitsyn was charged with treason and exiled following publication of The Gulag Archipelago, an extensive literary study of the Soviet penal system. His Soviet citizenship was revoked and he was flown to West Germany, where he lived until 1976, when he moved to the US. #HistoryGetsLIT
