Introducing Gideon Crew: trickster, prodigy, master thief GIDEON'S SWORD At twelve, Gideon Crew witnessed his father, a world-class mathematician, accused of treason and gunned down. At twenty-four, summoned to his dying mother's bedside, Gideon learned the truth: His father was framed and deliberately slaughtered. With her last breath, she begged her son to avenge him. Now, with a new purpose in his life, Gideon crafts a one-time mission of vengeance, aimed at the perpetrator of his father's destruction. His plan is meticulous, spectacular, and successful. But from the shadows, someone is watching. A very powerful someone, who is impressed by Gideon's special skills. Someone who has need of just such a renegade. For Gideon, this operation may be only the beginning . . .

I didn‘t know what to expect. This is a different series (Book #1 in the Gideon Crew series) by Preston & Child and doesn‘t feature Pendergast, although it does have a side character from the Pendergast series in it. It took me a bit to get into it and then I enjoyed the adventure. I‘m curious to see what happens in the next Gideon Crew book.

This is the first book in the Gideon Crew series. Gideon is the flawed hero in this novel. He is a really enjoyable character to read and you cannot help but be on his side. There is plenty of a action and plenty of humor. A word of warning the plot can times really toe the line between great story and being totally over the top. Still it is a pick from me

Over the top but fun #thriller that‘s packed full of action. I can easily see this one being a movie.

Mehso-so

I've had book 3 of this series on my TBR forever based on a review I saw. So when the library had the earlier books I decided to start at the beginning (cause I'm one of those people). Eh. Did not really enjoy this at all, so there's a book I can remove from the TBR.

Light and fast moving. A perfect audiobook for multitasking.

(Although the added music at the end of chapters was a bit jarring and very annoying. #notafanofmusicinbooks)

ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled I don't like music in audiobooks either. Really takes me right out of the story. 8y
carys14 @ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled.com There was one point where rap music started blaring and I literally jumped because it startled me. At first I thought that Audible had stopped and somehow my phone started streaming rap. 8y

I am going to try and get through this series while doing final show prep this week. I heard the first three in the series are okay (not as good as the Pendergast books) but the last one is excellent.

If I am going to read the last one them I have to read them all (and in order)

ReadingOver50 I read all of their books too. Love the Pendergast series. 8y
MrBook That's what I feel the need to do: start at the beginning. 8y
