Mehso-so

(2019) This isn't quite what I expected. It's a collection of posts from a library-technology blog. It's more professional development than heart-of-the-profession stuff. Not fair to complain that a book is not a thing it doesn't try to be, but still it's a mismatch for me right now. But it's short.

#20in4

Also, this is my #BookSpin read for February

#BookSpin and #DoubleSpin picks for February 2022: a short book of reflections on my profession, and a thriller. I love how the #BookSpin Fates gave me that cover full of hearts for Valentine's Day, and a book by a black author for Black History Month.

What's the secret magic, @TheAromaofBooks ?

TheAromaofBooks Nice!!! I have no power over the BookSpin fates, otherwise I wouldn't have let them give me Ivanhoe for the month 😂 Even before I read your caption, I was admiring the strong contrast between your two picks! 2y
swynn @TheAromaofBooks ? Yeah, I think I got the better fate. The good news is, that reading Ivanhoe means you'll never again have to say, "You know, I think I'd like to read Ivanhoe someday." Good luck! 2y
TheAromaofBooks LOL good point! David Copperfield was my January pick, so I just started reading one chapter a day and am still plugging away at it, so I guess I'll do the same thing with Ivanhoe! The story does sound interesting, it just takes more work than some of the shinier newer books around!! 2y

Pickpick

This one is a little inside baseball, er, librarianship - but it's an excellent collection of thought-provoking essays that were previously published on a blog and as Library Journal columns. Stephens pushes librarians to think technology and outside of the box, but always brings it back to the central idea of meeting people's needs through library services.
