Help (the fun kind)! We are starting to move forward on our basement, which means this space is soon to be my library! The space is going to be about 9ftx13ft (you can use all the junk as reference 🤣). What would you do in the space? Those who have a home library, what do you wish you had in yours? There are so many possibilities, I‘m almost stuck!

mandarchy Start with a good chair. I have two that I bought used. If you like matching book shelves lkea is great. A place to set your snacks/beverage near your seat, but away from your books. A stash of bookmarks and a phone charging spot. That window looks like a good spot to sit - good lighting is nice. Have fun! 3y
Nute You‘re about to have a ton of fun! There‘s a hashtag on Litsy for home libraries. Maybe try there to get some ideas. Post photos when finished! #HomeLibraries 3y
Amandajoy @nute I will definitely be checking out that hashtag! Google was not much help today. All I could think was that the recommendations for bookshelves and chairs were not from readers! 3y

Amandajoy @mandarchy do you have one of the ikea shelves? Which one and do you like it? 3y
MicheleinPhilly I have 5 of the white Billy bookcases from IKEA in my space. 3 on one wall, 2 on the other. I also have my chair right by the window. For your space, I would recommend a really bright, fun area rug and maybe a couple of corner lamps. Have fun! 3y
MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm My books are kind of scattered in mini home libraries across my house, but I definitely second the sentiment of starting with a good chair. I also wish my bookshelves went to the ceiling so I‘d have an excuse to have a library ladder. 😅 3y
Hooked_on_books I would love to have built in bookcases! Also, make sure your lighting is going to work for reading—that‘s vital. 3y
Amandajoy @MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm I am desperately trying to figure out how to make a library ladder work! 3y
Amandajoy @Hooked_on_books my husband said I needed overhead light so I don‘t need lamps. I said I need both, he doesn‘t quite understand why. 3y
mandarchy @Amandajoy I use the Billy book cases too. They are blond - not sure what color Ikea calls them, but I have heard that they are the least expensive/nicest looking - gets-the-job-done, but will bow if you over stuff them. 3y

Just saw this picture in a House and Garden magazine. It instantly reminded me of my place ❤️ we even have some of the same books!

Karisa Gorgeous! I think I could happily live in that room 😍 3y
candority I sent you an email a couple days ago about the #Bestof2020Swap, but maybe it got lost somewhere! Have you sent out your package yet? 3y

Cool my puzzle is in the database!
I had to give up on this puzzle. I got the boarder and some of the non-book areas together but then my anxiety went bananas, I couldn‘t figure out where to go from there. Usually I can figure it out after taking a deep breath and walking away for a bit. This time it didn‘t work. I‘d sit down and just ...
I‘ll go back to it eventually but i just can‘t right now.

That-Bookish-Hiker I had that same problem with a 1000 piece puzzle my husband and I just finished. Took us 3 months to finish it. I remember so many times I wanted to destroy it lol. I‘m glad my husband didn‘t let me. 4y
OrangeMooseReads @That-Bookish-Hiker I think I might have left it out but I don‘t have the room 😔 4y
That-Bookish-Hiker @OrangeMooseReads we don‘t have room either so we use a white foam core board to do puzzles on. It‘s great cause we can move it and leave it out when we need too. 4y
