Pickpick

So difficult to review this book. It‘s certainly not a ‘thriller‘ as advertised. (Does everything get called a thriller these days?!) It‘s more romance / family. It was a bit clunky and obvious, the MCs were caricatures and the plot line was weak so I wanted to give it a so-so but I genuinely couldn‘t put it down, so that has to be a pick, right?!

Cinfhen Yes, lots of books fall into that category for me ….especially when they are marketed as “thrillers” 2y
Ruthiella I also get annoyed when books as mislabeled as “thrillers”. It sets up false expectations. ☹️ 2y

This was a straight up gossip read, and it reminded me of the old TV show, Melrose Place. It opened with a dead body and then it showed you the life‘s of the people who lived there a month prior to the accident.

Who is the dead body? You have to read it to find out!!

I enjoyed the day to day goings of each of the people. Being that I‘m a thriller reader, I wished it would have been more of more of a twist at the end.

Yesterday was the last day of my last Christmas vacation (hopefully; I plan to retire December 1, 2021). There were things I 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 have been doing but I decided to get cozy & enjoy 𝐋𝐢𝐞, 𝐋𝐢𝐞 𝐀𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧 as I attempt to reach my 2020 reading goal. Author 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝗪𝐢𝐬𝐞 reeled me right into her characters' lives & the story is intriguing.⁣ Finishing it tonight.

Crazeedi I prefer to look at 2021 with hope, not with fear! We are able to put a man on the moon , a little virus wont defeat us. He should be lifting us up, not spreading fear. I hope you have a very special Christmas with the ones you love!☃️❄💗 3y
TieDyeDude I'm hopeful, but not overly optimistic. Best wishes! 3y

Thanks to #netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. From the synopsis I was expecting a twisty thriller involving 3 women living in the same apartment block. I hate having to say this but it was pretty lacklustre for me. I kept reading it hoping it would have more twists in it etc but it just kind of reach a rather anticlimactic ending for me. It would be a stretch in my opinion to describe this book as a thriller.
