So yes, I‘ve been treating the first couple of days of April more like “March+” and wrapping up my *Richard II* reading! But this weekend, I‘ll start the *Henry IV , Part I* leg of my journey through Shakespeare‘s History with a little warmup: The chapter about the play in ‘The Shakespeare Book‘. I originally bought this for my daughter when she was in middle school, but now it lives on my bedside table 📚

The source material for Hamlet is a ROMANCE?! I‘m a nerd obsessed with Hamlet, so I‘ve always wanted to read the originals, but now I REALLY want to know how this works out. Who doesn‘t he fall in love with? Ophelia?

Lcsmcat That‘s hard to imagine. 5y
GingerAntics @Lcsmcat right? I‘m thinking, who falls in love with who? No one dies? No one contemplates suicide? I‘ve got to read this. 5y

I like the little play timeline in this book. Thanks for the heads up on it, @Texreader I also got the philosophy book and the literature book from this series (all $1.99).

I certainly understand this play much better than the last one.

Texreader That‘s fantastic! They looked like books you‘d love! FYI, husband and daughter went to see Macbeth in Winedale today. It‘s put on by UT Austin students near Round Top. Here‘s the link if you ever want to go: https://liberalarts.utexas.edu/winedale/ 5y
GingerAntics @Texreader that‘s one of the plays I‘ve always wanted to see, especially after hearing Sir Patrick Stewart talk about it being so dark at times. I don‘t think the bus goes that far, but if we ever get a car that is happening. 5y

RIOTGRAMS DAY 7: Skulls, Pumpkins, Witches

Hamlet and Macbeth very prominently feature skulls and witches, respectively. Apparently Shakespeare uses the word “pumpion” in The Merry Wives of Windsor. The word was later changed to “pumpkin” by early American colonists. #riotgrams #day7

I've had this in my Amazon cart forever, but kept putting off buying it. Finally decided to pull the plug on Prime Day because of the book discount. Just got it in the mail today. Excited to flip through it! #bookmail #shakespeare
