An ex-Marine and an ex-CIA operative get married… fast forward 14 years. 🤣 It sounds like a crazy joke. But this one was refreshing, because I don‘t recall reading a romance of a nearing two decades, married couple. It was still crazy and snort out loud funny, but the trials and tribulations were different. And that was fun to experience.

June 6 Relatable Character
All of Penny Reid‘s heroine‘s are relatable and fun. This romantic comedy is featuring a already married couple, which is rare in romance. It‘s always cool to explore after the happily ever after.

3 🌟 It was good to see Greg and Fiona's story, though I found it more serious than funny.

I don‘t know if this one ranks as high a point in my recent love affair with Reid‘s backlist but it‘s still great, especially in the married-for-years romance. Greg, an environmentally conscious oil engineer and ex-Marine loves his ex-CIA wife and mother of two, the eponymous ninja of the title. But in between his fieldwork, fear of a medical remission,2 young kids,& sundry annoyances over 10 plus yrs of marriage, something‘s gotta give. #romantsy

I can't believe I'm doing this, but I just didn't care for this book nearly as much as I liked Penny Reid's other books. I read the Greg & Fiona origin novella last night and it was okay. I finished their full length novel this evening and just...meh. I love them as a couple, but this book just fell flat for me.
