An English manor home, an unsolved mystery, too many suspects to count Its the perfect holiday for romance novelist Sara Medlar. After solving two murder cases in their hometown of Lachlan, Florida, Sara Medlar, her niece Kate and their friend Jack need a change of scenery. Sara arranges for them to visit an old friend of hers in England. Upon arrival at Oxley Manor, a centuries-old estate that has been converted to a luxury hotel, Kate and Jack quickly realize that Sara is up to something. They learn that Sara has also invited a number of others to join them at Oxley. When everyone assembles, Sara lets them know why they are there. Decades earlier, two people ran off together from Oxley and havent been heard from sinceand Sara wants to solve the case. As the people who were there the night the two went missing, the guests find themselves cast in a live mystery-theater event. In reenacting the events of that night, it becomes clear that everyone has something to hide and no one is safe, especially when the discovery of a body makes it clear that at least one of the people who disappeared was murdered. Sara, Jack and Kate are once again at the heart of a mysterious case that only they are able to solve. But someone is willing to continue to kill to keep the truth about Oxley Manor buried, and none of the guests are safe. New York Times bestselling author Jude Deveraux has crafted another irresistible case in her bestselling Medlar Mystery series.

Nobody in book club could explain/understand the #sunglassesoncover because they don‘t have anything to do with the story. 🤷🏻‍♀️

1. I actually started this “last year.”
2. A friend and I have very tentatively planned a trip.
3. I have a bad habit of starting books but not finishing them so … I want to clear out everything on my “currently reading” list by the end of the year. I made a dent in that list in 2021 BUT I also added more which defeated the purpose! All that‘s a long explanation of why I haven‘t started a new book yet this year.

I‘ve closed the ledger on 2021 books (stats and wrap up to follow), so this will probably be my first read of 2022. It‘s due in four days! Perfect timing for a #newyearspecial readathon. We have friends coming to town for a couple days, but I should still get in some decent reading time. Earlier today I had a shot in my knee, so this afternoon I‘m just taking it easy and catching up with myself.

Andrew65 Great to have you with us, good luck 😊👍 Good luck with the knee. 2y

Giving this ⭐️⭐️⭐️+. I enjoy the trio, Sara, Kate and Jack and their bond but The plot was a little shakier then I like. Nice misdirection on a couple of characters though. All in all a fun read. Too bad Kate and Jack are blocked at 💕at every turn. Incidentally I wanted a nice cuppa while posting but my cat was too interested in the china for me to actually put my tea in the cup!
