My 7 yo and Harry Potter fan enjoyed this short biography of Rowling, he liked learning about how she wrote the books, how it got published in the US, and how writing them changed her life. At about 100 pages with pictures it was the perfect length for him. Would recommend for 6-9 year olds.

LaGasseSam1996 When students are doing an author study I think they should be allowed to use different forms to find the information they need. UDL 4.2 is perfect for this because it allows students to use many forms of technology. 5y

LaGasseSam1996 When doing an author study note taking is very important. You want to keep a list of information you want to use. ESOL 9 would be used in this case. It would allow students to have the note taking skills to complete the author study. Note taking also allows the student to be able to look back at their notes to quickly clarify something. 5y

This scholastic lesson plan gives great examples on how the students can display their author study. This lesson plan would have to be tweaked to match J.K. Rowling‘s the overall lesson can be used here. It gives students what they should have in their author study 5y

For all of you Potterheads looking for more insight into the beloved J.K. Rowling, this B written by Pam Pollack & Megan Belviso, is such an easy read and really allows the reader to understand where she came from and all the inspirations along the way! This would be best used for AS, as are most of the “Who Is” collections. There are many side notes along the pages about real world connections from the HP series! #LAE3414sp19

UDL 1.1 & 3.1 would work with a great AS display and then ESOL 4 & 17 linking prior knowledge of J.K. Rowling and using different visuals for presentations! (edited) 5y

The Who Is/Was series of books is a group of well written biographies for young readers. J.K. Rowling is one of my favorite authors and this was very factual. I even learned some new things. The series can connect to many subjects: world leaders, writers, political figures, ect. Love this series! Quick reads that give you great info...like Jo did not have a middle name (like I don't!) and gave herself the K name (Kathleen) after her grandmother when they suggested she go by her initials for the book.
