Unspeakable Love: Gay and Lesbian Life in the Middle East | Brian Whitaker
2 posts | 1 read | 3 to read
Draws long-overdue attention to the rights of homosexuals in the Middle East. Here, "Guardian" journalist, Brian Whitaker, paints a disturbing picture of people who live secretive, fearful lives, often jailed, or beaten and ostracised by their families, or sent to be 'cured' by psychiatrists.

this is a very insightful look into lgbt+ life in the middle east. ranging from close readings of the Koran to interviews with lgbt+ organisations and individuals, Whitaker does his best to dispel myths about Islam, lgbt+ people, and how they intersect.
