Barefoot in Paris
Barefoot in Paris: Easy French Food You Can Make at Home | Ina Garten
4 posts | 2 read | 4 to read
Hearty boeuf Bourguignon served in deep bowls over a garlic-rubbed slice of baguette toast; decadently rich croque monsieur, eggy and oozing with cheese; gossamer crme brulee, its sweetness offset by a brittle burnt-sugar topping. Whether shared in a cozy French bistro or in your own home, the romance and enduring appeal of French country cooking is irrefutable. Here is the book that helps you bring that spirit, those evocative dishes, into your own home. What Ina Garten is known foron her Food Network show and in her three previous bestselling booksis adding a special twist to familiar dishes, while also streamlining the recipes so you spend less time in the kitchen but still emerge with perfection. And thats exactly what she offers in Barefoot in Paris. Inas kir royale includes the unique addition of raspberry liqueura refreshing alternative to the traditional crme de cassis. Her vichyssoise is brightened with the addition of zucchini, and her chocolate mousse is deeply flavored with the essence of orange. All of these dishes are true to their Parisian roots, but all offer something specialand are thoroughly delicious, completely accessible, and the perfect fare for friends and family. Barefoot in Paris is suffused with Inas love of the city, of the bustling outdoor markets and alluring little shops, of the bakeries and fromageries and charcuteriesof the wonderful celebration of food that you find on every street corner, in every neighborhood. So take a trip to Paris with the perfect guidethe Barefoot Contessa herselfin her most personal book yet. From the Hardcover edition.

This weekend I had fun cooking with my oldest son. We made Boeuf Bourguignon. It was sooo delicious!

Ina‘s books get heavy use around here during the holidays. A New Year‘s staple in our house are these mussels in white wine sauce. The rack of lamb currently in the oven is also from this same book.

Dinner prep was a family affair tonight so I took a little break from #24in48. The rack of lamb recipe is from Ina's Paris book, which I love; it makes for a nice Saturday night dinner in. #bookanddinner

SarahKat84 Looks delicious! 7y
Lola @SarahKat84 It really was! I should have plated it better for the photo. The picture would have looked nicer with the second chop (in that white space with the onion bit) that I actually ended up eating 😛 (edited) 7y
cariashley Ooh I love that cookbook! 7y
Lola @cariashley I have (and love) them all but Paris is my favorite 🇫🇷 7y

A very small portion of my cookbook collection. Tonight, we had cheese and crackers. No recipe required. #gottaread

LauraBeth I ❤️ the cake bible SO much!! People think I should open a bakery when all I do is follow Rose's recipes 😀 8y
Lola @LauraBeth, ditto using the giant star tip to decorate a cupcake. No one believes it's really that easy 😂 8y
LauraBeth I'm sure you already have it @Lola but just in case - her Pie and Pastry Bible is equally as awesome! 8y
