Weaves the stories of a quilting circle together. I thought it started off with promise but started flagging at the halfway mark.
I think I prefer the movie.

I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 85

Here‘s an oldie but goodie! I dusted off this dated audiobook from my closet and was immediately captivated by versatile Judith Ivey and her brilliant and upbeat narration. Of course, I had to watch the film too. How could I resist such a stellar cast: Maya Angelou, Winona Ryder, Ellen Burstyn, Anne Bancroft, Alfre Woodard, Jean Simmons, Kate Nelligan and more? It‘s a bit dated, but still a gem.

JamieArc This is one of my favorite films! I watch it every few years. I also feel like I reference it a lot in conversations with people... 4y
UwannaPublishme @JamieArc Oh, I can see why. It‘s a film that lives on in your heart. 🙌🏻 I can‘t believe it took me so long to see it. 4y

How did I not know this was a book for so long and how did I not rush out to read it when I found out it was!!!??
This was such a timely read though, in many ways.
And this line! A lesson i am still trying to learn, to practice.

#bookclub @llwheeler

llwheeler I finished today. Really good! 5y
DocBrown I‘ve missed you @Andrea4! Were you away on your trip? And yes, adults do not have to explain themselves to other adults. I read that in a book somewhere. 5y
Andrea4 @mdhughes72 oh! Missed this till right now! I've not gone yet, just been absolutely swamped with work so I feel I barely have had time to do anything! 5y
Smarkies I loved this line too! 3mo

I'm feeling groggy from the time change and have decided to follow my mug's wisdom. Pjs and books (and no doubt netflix later on) it is!

Maybe I'll be good and do a few chores at some point... right now, starting the tagged book for book club.

DocBrown I L😍VE to cook!! 5y
Andrea4 @mdhughes72 that's awesome!!! I honestly think everyone should know how to cook a few good meals!! 5y
DocBrown It‘s very therapeutic. I‘d love to take some classes. 5y
Andrea4 @mdhughes72 I totally agree. It is a good way for me to relax and just sink in to the moment. It's all very sensual once you start really paying attention-so great for grounding yourself. And I think the more you put into it, the more you get out of it! My sis just took some knife skill classes and a pasta class- loved it!! 5y
DocBrown Wow, sounds great, I‘m so jealous! I totally agree with you about how cooking can help you feel present and grounded. And yes, sensual — the sights and smells, and even sounds! 5y

“You have to choose your combinations careful. The right choices will enhance your quilt. The wrong choices will dull the colors and hide their original beauty. There are no rules you can follow. You have to go by instinct and you have to be brave.”

LiterRohde So it is in life, as it is in quilts. 😉 (edited) 5y

LiterRohde @BookishTrish It‘s like we are continuing our conversation from last night. I must be thinking about taking risks; pondering my existence or something lately. 🤣 5y

BookishTrish It reminded me of that too. Also my favourite quote, “Be true. Be brave. Stand. All the rest is darkness.” 5y
JamieArc I should probably read this book. It‘s one of my favorite 90s movies. 5y
LiterRohde @JamieArc That‘s one thing I love about these challenges. In thinking about the prompt, something from what I have read often pops up, but just as often it doesn‘t. I have to research the prompt, and in doing so I am introduced to books I may have not come across otherwise. Before finding this great quote, I had heard of the movie but never seen it and didn‘t know it was a book. Likewise, I learn the same thing from reading everyone else‘s posts. 5y

Kinda depressing, huh? #desire #quotsydec17

Andrea4 I kind of feel this way and since I 💚💙💜💛❤ this movie, I'm stacking this, and finally going to read it!! 6y
SandyW I want to "like" this quote, but it's not something that actually brings a smile to my face. 6y

This book has been around a while, but I just got around to reading it. It was quick yet good. I enjoyed the little glimpse into the lives of the women of the story.

revenge4porgy What‘d you think about the book? Better than elm creek series? 📖 6y

I bought this copy at a library book sale. I opened it up here on the beach to read, and realized I have a signed copy. Cool beach read!!
