I knew nothing about the short story or novella that preceded this “complete haunting” (which I understand to be the story of the initial haunting included in the novella and a new group of scary spirit seekers staying in an incredibly haunted lighthouse). There was a lull, for me, about 2/3 of the way through, but when the story picked back up, boy, did it pick back up! I really enjoyed the format and the story.

We left the island for a quick haircut and visit with my in-laws and my fave @Allyneedsbooks 🥰 Maybe just maybe I can‘t be trusted to be back in civilization amongst the beautiful bookstores…

Despite this being a novella, there's a lot packed into the storyline. The author starts off slow & then ramps up the tense atmosphere, the main character's growing sense of unease, & his frustration upon realising he has no way of contacting anyone on the outside for help. If you enjoy short tales of horror where the ending doesn't wrap everything up neatly in a bow, then give this a try - it's a creepy haunted lighthouse, what's not to like? 4🌟
