Hard to Hold On To: A Hard Ink Novella | Laura Kaye
6 posts | 8 read | 2 to read
Five dishonored soldiers. Former Special Forces. One last mission. These are the men of Hard Ink. Edward "Easy" Cantrell knows better than most the pain of not being able to save those he loveswhich is why he is not going to let Jenna Dean out of his sight. He may have just met her, but Jenna's the first person to make him feel alive since that devastating day in the desert more than a year ago. Jenna has never met anyone like Easy. She can't describe how he makes her feeland not just because he saved her life. No, the stirrings inside her stretch far beyond gratitude. When the pair is thrust together and chaos reigns around them, they both know one thing: The things in life most worth having are the hardest to hold on to.

Easy is trying to help his friends find out who helped their commanding officer betray them. His best friend had died in that ambush. He‘s suffering from PTSD and depression. Jenna was kidnapped by the bad guys and rescued by Easy. The romance that develops in this novella is so sweet. I absolutely loved this quick read.

Oh Easy. I have no doubt you‘ll beat the depression and you and Jenna will have a happily ever after. Sobering statistics in the author‘s note, although sadly, not shocking. I‘ve known a fair amount of military and former military, and while I‘ve been lucky that no one I know has been one of the 22, it happens more than I‘d like to think. @CoverToCoverGirl @theresidentromantic #HardInk #buddyread

All the 🌟‘s... Easy‘s and Jenna‘s connection is poignantly beautiful but fraught with emotional trauma for them both due to PTSD. It‘s written with tremendous sensitivity.. so evocative. This series is seriously awesome! Highly recommend❤️
The author‘s informative but shocking note on suicide, as it pertains to the brave souls who serve in the military, moved me beyond words😢 @CocoReads @theresidentromantic

Talk about a worse case scenario 😳

However in “The Girls‘ Guide To Guys” you‘d find this kinda guy in the chapter entitled “He‘s A Keeper!” 😂😊 @CocoReads @theresidentromantic

theresidentromantic Right? It's so true though. My guy's a bouncer at a college bar and everytime he makes sure a girl that's too sick gets into a cab ok (because he'd answer to me if he didn't and because he's a good guy) he's got a small tittering crowd of girls like"you're such a nice guy!" Girls do want nice guys, after all! 2y

Starting this one now @CocoReads
I love how all the books in this series so far start up at the exact moment the last one ends. This is the third book and so far only one week has elapsed! And holy moly a lot has happened. 😊 #sweetescape

This was a bridge book, a cap to the end of the last one. It's a closure to the relationship with Sara's sister, Jenna and Easy that sort of starts in book two, but doesn't have enough of its own grounds for a full book. It was well done and I have to say, extremely sensitive to the topics of depression and suicide in veterans. Ready for book 3!
