My daughter goes to a very small independent school (25 kids for grades 1-8). They have a small library, but it was never set up formally. Since September this has been my volunteer project - finding an inexpensive library software, learning to print barcode labels, finding new labels when the first ones smudged. It is finally coming together though, and kids should be able to check out books with their very own card before Christmas!

brilliantglow That is such a great way to volunteer your time❤ 7y
slategreyskies This is so cool! You make me smile! :) 7y
Betty I did the same thing (volunteered at the library) when my daughter went to a brand new Middle School. Sweet memories 7y

Gleefulreader @brilliantglow @slategreyskies @Betty @jessica @Hooked_on_books @lisakoby thanks guys! I just love being able to share books with them. 7y
Gleefulreader @sue @Reviewsbylola thanks! It's been a challenge because there are lots of cataloging systems but they didn't have loaning features. And being so small, we couldn't afford a full library system roll out. So I've learned a lot along the way and the school is very happy with the solution I found. It's been fun! 7y
saresmoore This is amazing! It sounds like a really fulfilling project. Side note: I think my daughter has read literally every Geronimo Stilton (and Thea Stilton) book ever written. How are there so many?! 7y
