The Tide
The Tide | Clare Helen Welsh
3 posts | 2 read
A young girl loves her grandpa so much! When they spend the day at the beach, she holds his hand as they go for a walk, and they build sand castles together. But sometimes, it?s difficult, because Grandpa has become forgetful. ?Grandpa?s memories are like the tide,? Mommy explains. ?Sometimes, they?re near and full of life. Other times, they?re distant and quiet.? A story about families, laughter, and how we can help a loved one with dementia live well.

#WordsOfOctober Day 17: ‘Tis the changing of the #Season(s) here in the Middle East. Chilly mornings and super windy and cool evenings. It‘s great to be up here in the mountains on Friday nights - our weekend!

Pickpick

Beautifully written story from a young girl‘s point of view about a day at the beach with her grandfather who has Alzheimer‘s. This book would make a great read aloud for any child whose grandparents might be suffering from this disease as it helps the child better understand more the disease and makes appropriate connections a child would understand. Also Ashling Lindsay creates beautiful illustrations that compliment Welch‘s story so nicely.
