This story is an example of a fable and a folk tale, which are both specific types of traditional literature. In this particular retelling of this timely story the red hen asks upon some of her friends to help her make a cake. After they refused to help, she was forced to make the cake on her own. But that meant she also ate it on her own. The moral of the story is that hard work pays off, while laziness on the other hand has its own consequences.

I truly enjoyed reading this story! I think that it could be well utilized in an early elementary classroom. I think it would send a strong message to students that when they work together (helping in building a classroom community) that they will find that everyone will benefit. Alos touching on the other lesson in which the story teaches, which is hard work pays off. Two very powerful messages that young children could benefit from learning.

DrSpalding There are so many lessons to be learned from traditional literature. Comparing and contrasting different versions is a valuable activity that can help students master language arts standards. 4y

(this is after the cake the little red hen had finished being made, and now then hen is going to eat it by himself since no one helped him) “And so she did, to the very last crumb.” she deserved the cake!

This fable has been around for generations. It has lots of repetition. The little red hen in the story asks a cat, dogs and mouse to help plant some wheat. The story includes lots of a humor, and shows how working hard for something gets you somewhere, versus those who do nothing.

This a fable focused in traditional literature. It contains a repetitive structure and focuses on one main story throughout the plot. it holds a moral to teach kids important lessons. Like how hard work can pay off, and how its always nice to help others no matter what! This fable also contains aspects in which brings animals to life!

Compelling story of a little red hen going through the steps to make bread while nobody would help her! In the end when it was done, they were willing to eat it, but it was too late!
