Beginning with the adorable 10-year-old amateur sleuth Kate trailing criminals around a shopping centre in 1984, this novel takes an abrupt turn with two new (adult) characters living lives of quiet desperation. It all comes together brilliantly.

TheLudicReader I read this book years ago and loved it. 4y

Kate Meaney is an endearing character and I so wish there was more of her in this story. This book wasn't a solid Yay for me due to complexity of storyline and confusing cast of characters. I did enjoy how all the characters somehow connected, but this wasn't made clear until the end. Not bad for a book that's been sitting on my shelf since 2008!

I'm seriously about to DNF this one.. It's not flowing well for me, and it's actually boring me with all the unimportant things.. That have no real importance to the main character Kate and her disappearance. I'm half way threw does it get better for those who have read it?

This has been sitting in my TBR pile for a while time to crack it open. Any suggestions how to get the black 1.00 sign off. It looks like it's some kind of crayon

"Crime was out there. Undetected, unseen." So begins this haunting #debut novel of a ten year old detective... who later vanishes. Love, love, love this one. ❤️ #junebookbugs
