The Presidency in Black and White
The Presidency in Black and White: My Up-Close View of Three Presidents and Race in America | April Ryan, Elijah Cummings
1 post | 1 to read
The Presidency in Black and White gives readers a compelling behind-the-scenes look at race relations from the epicenter of American power and policy makingthe White House, April Ryan's beat since 1997. Ryan tells us what it was like for a pioneering African American female reporter to become a respected member of the White House press corps, one of the great old boy networks in the nation's capital. She also offers unique insights into the presidencies of Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama, evaluating both their leadership on race issues and presenting deeply personal and sometimes surprising portraits of each President. With humor, grace, and determination, April shares the highs and lows of a sometimes lonely battle, to keep questions of race and the lives of her inner-city listeners on the national stage.

Taking a pause this morning from #screamathon activities in honor and respect of the life and service of Rep. Elijah Cummings, a true public servant and life-long advocate for Charm City. He was my district rep when hubby and I lived in Baltimore, where our daughter was born. He will be sorely missed. 😢
