Nächte, in denen Sturm aufzieht
Nächte, in denen Sturm aufzieht | Jojo Moyes
8 posts | 1 read | 1 to read

Sorry folks, usually I‘m not like that but it‘s really sheer unbelievable to me how my fellow library-readers have rated this with 4,4 of 5 stars.

They must have read a completely different book. I wonder, which.

I. Am. _So_glad_. That. This. Is. Over.‼ï¸
I hope I‘ll have forgotten about it latest by tomorrow. One-dimensional, stereotyped characters – and so many of them that I often didn‘t know whose point of view I‘m reading although every chapter carries a name. The men sounded alike and the women also. 🙄

Plus this unbelievable story that adds up tragedy and drama. 🤮 That‘s not light at all. It‘s a pain to read and it cements traditional role models.

Jari-chan Nice review - I can really feel your pain 😠4y
julesG My guess. It was pushed onto the bestseller list by a) the author's name, b) by loads of copies sitting in a warehouse that the publishers bought themselves. 4y
julesG Just look at the cover, at the size ratio of the title and the author's name. If the author's name is larger than the title, approach with caution. 4y
Buechersuechtling @Jari-chan Thank you. I can‘t even tell why I didn‘t bail because I knew from the first few pages that I‘m not really sucked in. Which in this case was for the 10-year-old girl being the first protagonist appearing. I didn‘t like that but thought that the story will pick up for it‘s a Jojo Moyes … Well, it didn‘t. 4y
Buechersuechtling @julesG I‘d love to set my bet on b) because it‘s funny _and_ I‘m sure it happens more often than the average reader might think – but, anyway, I‘m sure a) will have done the trick. – Thanks for having brought these possibilities into my mind. It helps me feel not like an alien 👾. 4y

@BayouGirl85 @RamsFan1963 I‘m late to this #TalkAboutItTuesday – crazy how I can‘t tell where exactly this past one and a half weeks have gone to because I‘ve been busy all the time.

📚 – It‘s a firm 🤨 since there a few passages therein I love (always when they meet whales 🋠and dolphins ðŸ¬) but all the rest until now is disappointing. Maybe it‘s not for me.

🎧📚 Oh, I â¤ï¸ it (🇬🇧 “North of Bostonâ€). I love Pirio and how the plot is told.

BayouGirl85 I agree with you. Time seemed to fly by these past few weeks. 4y

Not the best photo.

But I badly wanted to share my sunny ☀ï¸? balcony reading with you. I hope the sunshine and the nice temperatures (22 °C = 71,4 °F) help me to finally be able to appreciate this. ??â€â™€ï¸

I‘m not yet in far, chapter 4, but it‘s not yet getting me. It feels a bit slow and clumsy … Beginning with the fact that right after the start I thought: “I have outgrown 10 year old protagonistsâ€. Meanwhile I found out there‘s more personnel – but I‘m still not hooked.

Funny thing: My physiotherapist has recently read it and also felt “meh†about it.

Well, Litsy‘s database says, I did not yet read this book – at least not during the last, don‘t know, 3,5 years – and Litsy _must_ know. 😂 So chances are high that I _really_ don‘t know this story. Even if I do, in case it didn‘t convince me, more than 3 years seem enough to have forgotten about the plot. 😉

So let‘s dive in‼ï¸

I forgot that I recently have put this on hold. It dropped in this morning.

So my efforts of turning my back on “light entertainment†aren‘t very successful.

I now remember I wanted to read it because I didn‘t know it. 3 minutes ago, I learned it‘s „🇩🇪 Dem Himmel so nah“ / “🇬🇧 Silver Linings†published with a new title. Why do they do thatâ“🤔 Anyway, the old title isn‘t ringing a bell with me, neither, so I‘ll read and see what happens.

vlwelser I think this is Silver Bay in the US. I haven't read it. Yet. 4y
Buechersuechtling @vlwelser I am 100 % sure, that you are right and that I was too stupid to copy the title correctly. 😊 4y
vlwelser Oh. I didn't catch that. At all. I just assumed the UK one was different. 4y
