A book I feel I should reread but I‘m in a slump so probably won‘t.... but I‘ll think about it, constantly

VeganCleopatra Did you really like this one then? 4y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @VeganCleopatra, I did when I was a teenager... no idea if I still would or if I‘d find the plot a bit... basic 4y

This was such a favorite of mine growing up and I got the wild urge to return to it recently. Part I follows the barefoot and orphaned countess Meliara as she and her brother start a grassroots revolution against greedy King Galdran, and Part II finds Mel at court, now navigating a very different kind of battlefield. Through it all is the infuriatingly perfect Marquis of Shevraeth. Such a satisfying, super fun, and beautifully built fantasy!

Oooh! I'd forgotten that I bought this 😍
No idea if it'll hold up to my memories but...

Chachic I read this years ago and loved it.💖 Haven't had a chance to reread it though. 7y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag Same, was pretty excited to find it - thought it would be out of print! @Chachic (edited) 7y

This is one of my all time favorite books, one I can read again and again! Mel and her brother Bran revolt against their king, only to find a revolt already in progress. Then Mel finds herself in a new court that she helped create but doesn't understand, and struggling to understand her relationship with Vidanric, the new king. The e-book has a special extra that retells some keys scenes from Vidanric's point of veiw.

The epitome of a #feelgoodbook for me, since I've had this paperback since young-adulthood and reread it many times. It was the only book I brought with me when I studied abroad in college.

I love this book. Mel remains one of the most frustrating heroines I've ever read, but that's only because she makes all the same rash/naive decisions I know I would make in the same situation. A little bit of everything - action, romance, politics, and more- makes for a very fun read.

WordWaller OMG I have the BEST memories about this book. I need to find it.. 8y
elkeOriginal I love this book/duet so much - now you have me wanting to reread! Curse you adding rereads to my TBR shelves! 😉 8y
