The gripping new thriller from the No. 1 bestselling author of The Couple Next Door. ****** It can be hard keeping secrets in a tight-knit neighbourhood. In a tranquil, leafy suburb of ordinary streets one where everyone is polite and friendly an anonymous note has been left at some of the houses. Im so sorry. My son has been getting into peoples houses. Hes broken into yours. Who is this boy, and what might he have uncovered? As whispers start to circulate, suspicion mounts. And when a missing local woman is found murdered, the tension reaches breaking point. Who killed her? Who knows more than theyre telling? And how far will all these very nice people go to protect their secrets? Maybe you dont know your neighbour as well as you thought you did . . . ****** Readers love Shari Lapena: 'Twist on twist on twist on twist.' 'Fantastic book, from the first page I was hooked, couldn't put it down!' 'The atmosphere that Lapena creates only adds to the amazing plot.' 'An excellent atmospheric thriller, full of intrigue and suspense.' 'I was reading with my mouth open as I raced towards the final page.' 'I read it in one sitting, as I simply could not put it down.' 'An incredibly gripping read.'

In the continued spirit of “I really don‘t want to do any work today,” I just finished this book and thought it was GOOD! Lots of twisted & ambiguous relationships between characters and an ending that leaves the door open for what could be a thrilling continuation. This has been my favourite of Lapena‘s books⭐️⭐️⭐️

Domestic thriller. Think Wisteria Lane in Desperate Housewives (dating myself here 😂). The mystery ends up being who would NOT want to kill these neighbors? If you‘re looking for brain candy in an #audiobook format then this is perfect. 3/5 ⭐️

Chelsea.Poole I loved Desperate Housewives! 😆 3y

⭐⭐⭐⭐ - a good read but would have liked to have been kept guessing a little more with the twist.

More twists and turns then a country road. This book delves into a close-knit community whose lives are suddenly turned upside down and put through a microscope after a mans wife goes missing. This book looks into each families lives with their dirty laundry being aired to their unsuspecting neighbours. It contains murder, deceit, adultery and denial, the perfect recipe. #sharilapena #greatbook #lovetoread #bookreview #bookrecommendation

MayJasper I love your country roads analogy. 5y

Every time I read one of Lapena's books, I come away feeling that the execution was not strong enough to support what's expected of this genre. There seems to be a lot of repetition in that it's more of the same thing. The plot isn't very liner and you end up being led in circles.

Yes, this time the characters were more fleshed out. They all had distinctive voices and it turns out, something to hide. But there was far too much repetition.

Another entertaining mystery from Lapena! The neighborhood may as well have its own soap opera for all the secrets its keeping and they are all revealed at a pitch perfect pace.
