'90s Island
'90s Island: A Novella | Marty Beckerman
1 post
On the eve of their thirtieth birthday, twin brothers Jake and Zack Hind-bankrupt from the recession and obsessed with the lost golden era of the 1990s-drunkenly create a Kickstarter crowdfunding page for '90s ISLAND, a tropical commune dedicated to recreating that beloved, carefree decade. When they wake up, Generation Y has collectively pledged millions of dollars. At first it's a thrilling return to the twentieth century: '90s fashions, '90s music, '90s slang, '90s video games, even '90s junk food...but the fun turns to horror when Zack seizes dictatorial power, banning everything from modern books to medicine. Jake must stop his brother-but first he must conquer his own nostalgia. From Marty Beckerman, author of #1 Amazon.com best-selling parody The Heming Way ("laugh-out-loud"-USA Today), comes a hilarious, poignant literary treatment of the 1990s revival that asks the ultimate millennial question: "What's My Age Again?"

Although I didn‘t realize it then, the 90s were a pretty formative decade in my life. After all, I did graduate middle school, high school and college all within these ten years. I‘ve always been stuck in my love for the 80s, but time has made me nostalgic for the 90s now, too. (Some of my faves L to R New Radicals, Cake, Alanis, Danielle Brisebois, Jude Cole, Letters to Cleo, Third Eye Blind, Jellyfish, Tonic). #90sspringfling

Purrfectpages @cariashley I loved Third Eye Blind! @Cinfhen Cake was so much fun! @BarbaraBB The New Radicals album was so good, but so many people dismissed them as a one hit wonder. 5y
booklahoma Cake was and is awesome. Letters To Cleo - just love Kay Hanley's voice, phrasing, everything. 5y
Purrfectpages @booklahoma Fun fact. I became a bigger fan of Letters to Cleo after I knew they were coming to my college and I started listening to their one album in preparation. I‘ve been a huge fan ever since. 5y
