I like how detailed and thorough this story was. It explains the little boy and the beckoning cats relationship well. The cat helped out the boy so much the others wanted their own beckoning cat

Based on a Japanese folktale, The Beckoning Cat is about a boy who is poor, but still shares his dinner with a cat who shows up on his doorstep. Because of this boy‘s kindness, the cat comes to the rescue when he is in trouble. It is a good example of a common theme told to children, treat others how you want to be treated.

This book warms my heart! Great lesson to teach children as the story is very humbling.

The Beckoning Cat by Rosanne Litzinger, 2009. Traditional Literature. What stuck out the most to me in this book is definitely the illustrations. The illustrations are amazing and really help depict the story well. I enjoyed the use of watercolor in doing so. This book is great as it shows the cat returning kindness to the young boy who was kind to it. I love the message in this book and would definitely recommend it!

I loved this book! I will for sure buy it because I love beckoning cats. It‘s so cool to hear the background on them in picture book form!

The Beckoning Cat by Koko Nishizuka is a traditional story. It was written in 2009. This story was very intriguing for me because I own like 4 or 5 mini beckoning cats! This is a great traditional story because it gives us so much information on Japan and the back story of one of their most famous stories and items. The illustrations were also amazing and really helped increase the enjoyment of the story.

“When he arrived, the cat was standing by the door; 'What shall i do? I can't go out to sell today, and the fish will spoil by tomorrow.'“

It is a traditional literature book that is considered a Japanese folktale. It gave us insights on beliefs back then. It is about being realistic to show a relative relatedness, however, it takes on other embroidered views to add a spin on things!

A cat with high morals helps a family in need by finding things and people that can help them! The cat was so sly and smooth about this surprising the family each time which I find loving and enduring!

My favorite part of the book was after the story when it said that this was the reason the beckoning cat was famous! It was cool to read the story and then to see that the beckoning cat is actually a real tradition.

I really enjoyed this book! I thought the storyline was cute and I loved how the animal had human like abilities

I like this story because it explains something from another culture that children have probably seen before. I have seen these lucky cat figures in many different places and I never knew what they were for.

This story is about the cat and how it is looked at as a lucky symbol in Chinese heritage. I enjoyed this story and I will definitely be adding it to my library.

I did not know where the plot of this story was going but once I figured it out at the end, I really enjoyed the characters in this book. I especially liked the symbol of the cat.

I really enjoyed reading this book. The ending was really cool to know why the white porcelain cat is good luck in Japan or even an Asian restaurant.

Traditional. This traditional Japanese tale is perfect for a classroom. It is uplifting and light and easy to follow along and enjoy.

Look at the differences in the color used in this illustration. The different shades of brown that make it distinct that one part is the floor and the other is the wall/door. In the other picture you can see that the girl is standing outside due to the different colored of blue, touruois, green, and brown
