I Am Human
I Am Human: A Book of Empathy | Susan Verde
3 posts | 7 read | 2 to read
I am human I am a work in progress Striving to be the best version of ME From the picture book dream team behind I Am Yoga and I Am Peace comes the third book in their wellness series: I Am Human. A hopeful meditation on all the great (and challenging) parts of being human, I Am Human shows that it’s okay to make mistakes while also emphasizing the power of good choices by offering a kind word or smile or by saying “I’m sorry.” At its heart, this picture book is a celebration of empathy and compassion that lifts up the flawed fullness of humanity and encourages children to see themselves as part of one big imperfect family—millions strong.

A powerful RF about the road of being human. We learn, make mistakes, and grow from them. We find joy in friendships and may get hurt by them sometimes. But, being human allows us to make choices. We can move forward, choose to be thoughtful, kind, compassionate, and fair! Such a great book about morals and how we should respond to setbacks! Would be great for a SR or RA, as it is a book that needs to be heard by all and should invite discussion.

DMoux https://www.counselorkeri.com/2018/10/13/i-am-human-activity/ This link will bring you to a lesson plan that involves students sharing about their experiences and learning from their peers! UDL 9.2 facilitates personal coping skills and strategies when hardships come. ESOL 22 can be used by giving enough wait time to respond to life experience questions. #ucflae3414su19 5y
Kendylleonard I‘ve never heard of this book before, but what a great book to have in your classroom! This would be great to use as a RA if you are having some issues within your classroom. The activity is also great! I would love to have this book in my classroom and complete this activity with my students every year. 5y
Kcompton2912 I have never heard of this book but am instantly in love. Empathy is so important to teach to students right now with our world. Having this be a RA can be great to have group discussions about empathy. The resource you provided will definitely bring that further. 5y
DrSpalding There are a series of books like this and now that you are familiar with the author and his exceptional work… I hope you will perform an author study so that you can share many of his titles. Read aloud is perfect for this book and I could see it as a touching storytelling as well. 5y
