Neutronium Alchemist
Neutronium Alchemist | Peter F Hamilton
6 posts | 15 read | 2 to read
The ancient menace has finally escaped from Lalonde, shattering the Confederation's peaceful existence. Those who succumbed to it have acquired godlike powers, but now follow a far from divine gospel as they advance inexorably from world to world. On planets and asteroids, individuals battle for survival against the strange and brutal forces unleashed upon the universe. Governments teeter on the brink of anarchy, the Confederation Navy is dangerously over-stretched, and a dark messiah prepares to invoke his own version of the final Night. In such desperate times the last thing the galaxy needs is a new and terrifyingly powerful weapon. Yet Dr. Alkad Mzu is determined to retrieve the Alchemist -- so she can complete her thirty-year-old vendetta to slay a star. Which means Joshua Calvert has to find Dr Mzu and bring her back before the Alchemist can be reactivated. But he's not alone in the chase, and there are people on both sides who have their own ideas about how to use the ultimate doomsday device. THE NEUTRONIUM ALCHEMIST is the second novel in the Night's Dawn Trilogy, an extraordinary feat of storytelling on a truly epic scale.

#BookMail Pt9 I recently bought this trilogy on Booktopia.com.au only to be told “we have bk1 & bk3 but we can‘t source bk2” Silly me thought it would be easy to find this edition on book depository(nope)Dymocks(uh uh)Amazon(sorry) or most bookstores online or off. I eventually found a 2ndhand copy on abebooks.com & it arrived with only a crease in the spine & a few bent pages. And it arrived in a week not like Goldsboro, a month & still waiting😑

Pickpick

I hate cliffhangers ?
I had some trouble with the first book "The Reality Disfunction", because the story took some unexpexted, to me negative, turns, but I kept thinking about it. So I bought the second one and it was great.
It did feel a bit like a prelude to the third book, everything interesting is going to happen in the sequel but that is a feeling I have often when reading series with 3-5 Volumes. Have you encountered a series like that?

I don't officially participate in the #readathon, since I just have too much on my mind this weekend, but I am exited to see all your posts!
If there is time, I will read as much as I can from this one, since I ordered a couple of books for my scary/spooky reads which you all recommended for me and I want to read them next week 📚🎉

mahasoor Nice choice! I really like Hamilton. 8y

Starting this one today, even though I didn't like parts of the first book The Reality Disfunction. But I caught myself thinking about the story quite often so I decided to read the whole series.
1200+ pages are bound to keep me busy for some time

'Bout midway through this beast and the trilogy as a whole. It's summer.
