Got some reading in while at the salon today. Almost done with this #readharder book. Some of these stories have been fantastic! There‘s one about the wolves of Isle Royale which was fascinating. One about the first spider in space, which was excellent. Some of them were a bit harder to enjoy; one talked about an animal testing lab which my vegan heart did not do well with. I also didn‘t realize my hair is the same color as my fire case. 😂

Someone might have a kidney stone (yippee), so I got the pleasure of having an abdominal CT scan today! At least there were nice quiet spots to read between getting poked and prodded. Getting close to the end of this #readharder2022 book!

LiteraryinLawrence Oh no! I hope they figure out what‘s wrong and you feel better soon! 1y

Well, my favorite article was about the reintroduction of mammoths and other extinct creatures. I have very mixed feelings about this desire on the part of some scientists. It was a good article that also had a lot of information about elephant behavior. Elephants who are actually in the process of going extinct.

Other than this article though, I'm just not convinced this collection was the “best“ of 2018. 😕

I'm out of order reading the last few of these, but it doesn't really matter since the writing is always good, and the selected topics offer a good range.

The 2018 collection was built around the theme of the March for Science, an anti anti-science movement. I was happily reminded of great stories I'd already read, but others from publications I didn't yet read. I really liked the use of protestors' sayings as section intros.

Hello, it‘s Best American time again - I‘ve started with my perennial favorite, Science and Nature. I like Kean‘s books, so I wasn‘t worried about his ability to find good articles for this anthology. This anthology is such a great spread of science writing, with call-backs to other included pieces (intentional or not), and all so very relevant to the current world today AND pieces are organized by theme using slogans from the March for Science.

Graciouswarriorprincess I love this series and that tote is so cute!! 6y

Did a bit of retail therapy today - cutest kitty-cat book tote that just arrived at the store and my copy of The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2018 popped up just in time to soothe my soul. (I start my Best American reading with the Science and Nature volume every year.)

Leftcoastzen Such a cute tote! 6y
