The Steam Pump Jump
The Steam Pump Jump | Jodi Taylor
7 posts | 10 read | 5 to read
Not one to let being banged up in Sick Bay stop her, Max has had a brilliant idea. But she needs Markham to execute it on her behalf. The subject of this cunning plan is Peterson, struggling with another bereavement and not doing very well. Whats needed to get him through it is sympathy, sensitivity, tact and understanding. Step forward Mr Markham, for whom sympathy, sensitivity, etc., are things that happen to other people. Combine a fanatic from R&D, a head of Security with his own problems, a steam-pump, two historians who cant even be in the same room as each other, some fractious Protestants and a large body of very dirty water. Told in Markhams own words, this is the story of an intervention St Marys style.

Trying to muster the necessary steam 😉 to tackle the important paperwork. Listening to the tagged book (re-read) while I decide whether to get stuck in now, or in half an hour. 🙄🙄🙄

Strong peppermint tea with a generous splash of honey - not helping. Still don't want to do the paperwork. 😬

PS: got up early to do the paperwork but was interrupted by an unexpected visitor

TheSpineView Good luck on the paperwork! 2y
julesG @TheSpineView Thanks. I've just finished. 2y

I love that this one was narrated by Markham. Max is still in sick bay, and she puts him in charge of a “simple” jump, but that also means he‘s in charge of all the machinations she would normally oversee. It‘s fun and chaotic, but also sweet and heartwarming. St Mary‘s is almost always like a comforting mug of tea.

I‘m always a little hesitant on the Markham point of view stories, but this one was so cute. I really feel for Peterson and this was a nice little interlude.

Congratulations @Mitch and thanks for hosting this lovely giveaway!
I am so enjoying the St Mary‘s series. The tagged book is the latest short story and the new full length novel is due out next month. I have already preordered it (and I NEVER do that). If you started now, you could be all caught up just in time for the next installment. #completetheseries
