1665. When Elise de Lesseps is sold in marriage to Lord Edward Asher, she resolves to be an obedient and dutiful wife, until, on their wedding night, she finds out exactly what her husband has in store for her. His request leaves her feeling shocked and humiliated, but being his chattel, she has no right to refuse. The consequences of that night seal Elise's fate, and set her on a path that will lead to heartbreak and tragedy.2013. Renowned archeologist, Dr. Quinn Allenby has a gift; she can see into the past when holding an object that belonged to the dead. When asked to host a BBC documentary called "Echoes from the Past," Quinn uses her gift to find out what really happened to the 17th century couple known only as "The Lovers," and unwittingly stumbles onto the secret of her own birth.

Pickpick

I love supporting Indie and hybrid authors, and Irina Shapiro‘s new dual-time romance did not disappoint. Despite occasional lapses in point-of-view, the characters were multi-layered, and the story compelling. There is a paranormal spin to this one as well (my favorite), and the 17th Century storyline captivated me, then broke my heart. This is the first book of a trilogy.

Just starting Irina Shapiro's newest novel. If you haven't found this author yet, and you enjoy historical romance and/or ghost stories, you really need to give her work a try. I've not found her books in any form except ebook, so look for her on Amazon, and treat yourself. You won't be sorry! (Start with Precious Bones, my favorite❤️)

Arcana It took this title a while to be added on Litsy. This book was excellent, and I‘m looking forward to reading the rest of the series. It didn‘t bring me to tears, but was very suspenseful, and stayed with me for days. Recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 #romantsy #historical (edited) 2y
