A child bride, Sara Winchester had grown into a winsome beauty, joyfully anticipating the day when her husband Nathan, Marquess of St. James, would return to claim her heart at last. Charmingly innocent, she dismissed the ancient feud that divided Nathan's family from her own...and she was totally unaware of his past exploits as the notorious pirate, Pagan. The man who now stood before her was perplexing, arrogant and powerfully handsome...a warrior-gentleman whose gentle touch aroused her to the wildest, deepest pleasures of love.Nathan had never bared his soul to any woman, but he was soon utterly beguiled and exasperated by Sara's sweet, defiant ways. Aboard his ship, The Seahawk, she was brave, imperious and determined to win his heart completely -- yet upon their return to England, her love would be sorely tested as a vile conspiracy tried to tear them apart. With their future at stake, they would discover the true destiny of their passion...for all time!

My first romance novel and one I've read at least a trillion times! A little dated in terms of what's acceptable in romance H/h behavior today, but it's still my fav Garwood. 💗💗💗💗 I still own the original cover.

Alinaire I love JG! I have this cover also ❤️ 7y
CocoReads I really like her books. I don't read them often, but they're kind of like a comfort read to me 7y

3.5 Stars! I loved Nathan and the pacing and plot of the story. The heroine started off great but really got on my nerves with her naïveté and cluelessness. Yes, I get the time period but still. Great story overall but not my fav of the series.

Irisheyz77 I loved this one...but I think it helped that I read it when I was much younger (jr high or early high school) old school romances can be so hard sometimes. They remind me of Classic Disney princesses. Heroines have evolved over time. 8y
