Anna has studiously avoided her Aunt Rosethe woman she once loved more than anyone else in the worldever since the night Rose betrayed Anna and her mother, Rose's own fatally ill sister. In the sixteen years that have passed, Anna has built another life for herself far from her hometown on Maryland's eastern shore, but she can't forgive or forget. Now another betrayal, by a faithless lover, has brought Anna back to her family's restaurant, where Rose needs her estranged niece's helpand trustmore than ever before. Determined to leave as soon as the struggling business is back on its feet and her own hurt is healed, Anna joins Rose in the kitchen of the Bella Sorella, resolved to remain unaffected by Rose's longing to undo the past. But Anna's resistance could blind her to a true and unexpected love that's reaching out to grab her by the heart. New York Times bestselling author patricia gaffney's Flight Lessons is a poignant, funny, and wise story of truth, loyalty, and the bonds that shape, sustain, and ultimately uplift us.

My audio reading life is a little unusual. I hunt around thrift stores for vintage audiobooks on cassettes and CDs to listen to in my car. Yes, my Toyota Solara convertible is equipped with a cassette player! 🤪 And if I‘m on foot, I may even be listening on a library playaway. My favorite audiobook to date: Carole King‘s “A Natural Woman.”

PurpleyPumpkin This takes me back! I used to listen, or try to listen, to audiobooks in the car on our CD player. But I didn't like the fact that I couldn't pause and restart easily. I always ended up getting lost and didn't much enjoy the experience. Fast forward to today and audiobooks are a mainstay in my reading! Glad to see your enjoying the 'thon.👍🏽 5y

UwannaPublishme @PurpleyPumpkin So true! It‘s a lot easier with Libby and Audible, but sometimes I just can‘t resist those oldies but goodies! 😂 5y
UwannaPublishme @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego I think I bought this car just for the tape deck! 🤣 5y

Trying to finish this year's "already started" books before I figure out which 2018 Reading Challenges to take on. There are so many! ?
This was my "audiobook in the car" and it had me laughing and easily forgetting about holiday traffic. I loved Gaffney's previous novel The Saving Graces so I knew I'd instantly connect with her funny and relatable characters here. The setting in a typical Italian family restaurant made it even more entertaining.
