⭐ ⭐3 ⭐
The story is lovely but a bit sad. It‘s also really long. Little Ruthie and her dad pick the perfect tree in the spring and then dad goes to war. Things are tight. Ruthie can not have new clothes, or a new doll. But the family is going to make sure the church is going to get it‘s Christmas tree.

LibrarianRyan @mrsmarch ahhhh. This was a library book. We used to take used books and add them to our library collection so I get it. Just thought it was sweet. 3y
Lcsmcat My kids loved this book! You have to read it with the proper southern mountain accent, slow and low-pitched. 3y
mrsmarch @Lcsmcat The older I get, the more my native accent slips into something from the mountains. Not as thick as my grandmother‘s, but redolent of Eleanor Beardsley (NPR correspondent). 3y
