Part of the Christchurch Noir series, and not the 1st, tho‘ it can be read as a stand-alone, this thriller features Carl and Theo, formerly known as the “Coma Cops” due to their having been in simultaneous comas due to work injuries. Theo is back on the job, and Carl is on disability with a bullet still delicately lodged in his brain, when the “5 Minute Man” starts murdering violent criminals who for 1 reason or another are now free. “5 minutes 👎

arubabookwoman as in the words cops often hear from victims wishing they had just 5 minutes with the criminal. Cleave has created a complex, intricate plot that kept me wondering throughout, even though we know almost from the beginning “whodunnit.” (edited) 6y

I love Paul Cleave and I love how his books are right in my wheelhouse. This one wasn‘t my favorite but it did mention Joe Middleton quite a bit so that made me happy. I also like how he spins the whole thriller thing in its head by telling you the who, how, and why up front and then the rest of the book is watching the characters figure it out. It‘s equal parts graphic, funny, and intriguing. This one had some annoying plot points but that‘s okay
