From the Notebooks of Dr. Brain
From the Notebooks of Dr. Brain | Minister Faust
1 post | 1 read
An outlandish, outrageous tour de force by the most innovative prose stylist in the field. Robert J. Sawyer, author of Hominids Theyre Earths mightiest superteamand dysfunctional as hell. OMNIPOTENT MANa body with the density of steel, and a brain to match THE FLYING SQUIRRELaging playboy industrialist by day, avenging krypto-fascist by night IRON LASSmythologys greatest warriorbut the world might be safer if she had a husband X-MANformerly of the League of Angry Blackmen . . . but not formerly enough THE BROTHERFLYradioactively fly POWER GRRRLperpetually deciding between fighting crime or promoting her latest album, clothing line, or sex scandal Having finally defeated all archenemies, the members of the Fantastic Order of Justice are reduced to engaging in toxic office politics that could very well lead to a superpowered civil war. Only one woman can save them from themselves: Dr. Eva Brain-Silverman, aka Dr. Brain, the worlds leading therapist for the extraordinarily abled. Faust has pretty much invented his own genre. Hes totally original, full of surprises. Richard K. Morgan, author of Altered Carbon Samuel Delany, Harlan Ellison, and Ishmael Reed all rolled into one. Fausts writing is biting, insightful, and hugely entertaining. Ernest Dickerson, director From the Trade Paperback edition.

#5forDinner 5 Living Authors:

- Minister Faust aka Malcolm Azania
- Michael Chabon
- Neil Gaiman
- Jane Goodall
- Bruce Coville

That number 5 slot started out going to China Miéville, then Patton Oswalt, but I really wanted someone from my young reading life.

We dine on veggie lasagna.

DebinHawaii Yay to Jane & Neil! They're coming to my dinner party too! 👍😀 7y
merelybookish Nice! I considered doing two versions as well! 7y
TobeyTheScavengerMonk @DebinHawaii I'm tempted to crunch the numbers because I suspect that Gaiman is the most requested guest. 7y

DebinHawaii @TobeyTheScavengerMonk Yes, I would agree--he is probably the most requested. 😀 7y
saresmoore I really think China Miéville needs to be more of a one-on-one date...with a recording device so you can replay that genius backwards later and get a totally new meaning. Also, Jane Goodall! Great pick! 7y
LibrarianRyan I love that you choose Bruce Coville !! 7y
2BR02B @saresmoore I agree! Although I'd mostly be taping because I'd be too transfixed by his good looks to take in everything he said. 😍 #creepyfangirlalert 7y
saresmoore @2BR02B 😂 Yes! 7y
