I reread this one in anticipation of finally reading the next one in the series. I love this story about an English architect and the American man who hired her father (her) to design a hotel. Lots of emotional punches in this romance.

I ripped through this in less than 24 hours and it was just the diversion I needed after a few heavy reads. I liked the unique premise, the feminism and the NYC setting; some parts were repetitive and anachronistic but overall it was satisfying. This was my first Joanna Shupe and I‘d read more from her. #romantsy

I liked this one a bit more than the first in the series. Partly because of Eva, struggling to be recognized for her work in what is still a very male profession, but also because Shupe pushes a bit more into how women were treated at the time of the Gilded Age, with a secondary character who is at risk of being committed to an asylum because she doesn‘t conform. Phillip is interesting - a very Alpha Male who has to learn to be a Beta for Eva.

balletbookworm I know we all laugh about that meme going around with reasons women got committed but that was a real thing 6y

1. The great @EloisaJames posted somewhere about it (newsletter, maybe?)
2. Yes, thank goodness for Goodreads.
3. Not really, I mean media may bring a book to my attention but I don't necessarily read it.
4. A Scandalous Deal by @JoannaShupe
