How the Finch Stole Christmas!
How the Finch Stole Christmas!: A Meg Langslow Mystery | Donna Andrews
10 posts | 13 read | 5 to read
New York Times bestselling author Donna Andrews takes us home to Caerphilly for the holidays in her new hilarious Christmas mystery How the Finch Stole Christmas! Meg's husband has decided to escalate his one-man show of Dickens' A Christmas Carol into a full-scale production with a large cast including their sons Jamie and Josh as Tiny Tim and young Scrooge and Meg helping as stage manager. When a famous, though slightly over-the-hill, actor comes to town to play the starring role of Scrooge, no one expects that hes bringing a lot of baggage and enemies with him. Like Andrews previous Christmas books Six Geese a-Slaying, Duck the Halls, and The Nightingale Before Christmas, How the Finch Stole Christmas! is guaranteed to put the "ho ho hos" into the holidays of cozy lovers everywhere with its gut-bustingly funny mystery.

I love that Donna Andrews writes a Christmas book each year in the Meg series! I quite enjoyed this installment. Michael is directing the Christmas Carol production again, except this time the actor playing Scrooge is a minor big-name, who turns out to be temperamental and rarely sober. As usual, Meg is quite busy - trying to keep the star actor in line and then stumbling across an animal smuggling ring - and a murder!

3⭐️ It was ok. I think I might have to read the series from the beginning to understand it better. #bookstagram #bookreview #fiction #christmasfiction #mystery #meglangslow #wintergames2020 #readnosedreindeer

I'm almost all caught up on this series! Finding these on audio has helped me catch back up and it's been fun hearing voices put to the characters. I love following Josh and Jamie's antics, Meg is a whirlwind of activity, and grandfather is quite a riot! The rest of the cast of characters is equally entertaining and these lighthearted mysteries make for good companions on my short commute 😁

Though Andrews has done well to cut down the number of family and church members crowding the plot and “small” town, the series has become dry rote with no real sense of suspense. The core characters have lost the personality that once made them interesting, and the story feels much like we are really running those endless errands with Meg.

Fun, light, Christmas mystery involving an actor, A Christmas Carol, a murderer, and an animal smuggling ring. I never guessed who the murderer was.

In the spirit of the season, I‘m picking Meg Langslow for my #bestseries2017 for #jingleshelves because I‘ve read four of the latest in the series recently and really enjoyed them. And yes I know I‘ve missed a few, but I got stuck on my best book and didn‘t recover!

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I‘ll have to check these out!! 📚☺️ 6y
