I finished this during the #24in48 readathon. This was absolutely marvelous! A combination of true crime cases with references to Austen's letters and writings, this is a must for Janeites. Fullerton blends these two elements perfectly and gives each crime prevalent in the 18th and 19th century its own chapter. Images portraying certain acts and punishment also appear. Truly fantastic!

This week, I'm learning all about judicial process, as it is the first time I've been selected to jury duty. Not too happy about this, especially since it coincides with tomorrow's 200th anniversary of Jane Austen's death. I'm bummed I can't spend the day enjoying Austen, as I had planned to months ago.

However, this book combines these two events so well - Austen's take on crime, as found in her books. May be fun to bring this tomorrow...

Texreader I was so pleased to serve on a jury besides the fact I'm a litigator and it helped me see cases from the other side. It's a unique process and I really enjoyed it even though it was a huge inconvenience. Take the book. I suspect you'll have time to read. 7y
